Ute sent this card to Geography Cat and wrote about the tragic loss of life at Krefeld Zoo in Germany that happened as a result of sky lanterns being released illegally for a New Year’s party. The lanterns landed on the ape house and set it alight. Over 50 animals were lost as a result.
